Wedding Planning in Italy: Tuscany Venue Tour Recap

This past spring, I had an opportunity to visit Tuscany’s most private and luxurious wedding venues.

Villa Medicea di Liliano - Florence, Italy

We kicked off the tour at the stunning Villa Medicea di Liliano, a historic estate sitting on a hilltop just outside Florence. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, the property offers breathtaking views of the Chianti hills and even a glimpse of Florence’s Duomo from its scenic terrace.

This estate is an ideal spot for a destination wedding, with a variety of indoor and outdoor options including gardens, courtyards, the banquet hall, and a scenic terrace. Onsite accommodations include the main villa and nearby villas, housing up to 50–60 guests. This wedding venue is perfect for a smaller, and more intimate wedding.

The day wrapped with a wine tasting, and a welcome dinner with authentic Italian dishes such as cacao e pepe, and gelatop for dessert. It was an unforgettable way to kick off the tour.

COMO Castello Del Nero – Tuscany, Italy

Day two started with the breathtaking COMO Castello Del Nero, a luxury estate tucked into the rolling Tuscan hills. This historic property is set on acres of vineyards, olive groves, and cypress-lined gardens, offering a peaceful and private setting for destination weddings.

The estate features a beautifully restored 12th-century chapel, Renaissance frescoes, a medieval tower, and many elegant rooms and suites. With its refined architecture, outstanding cuisine, and all-in-one wedding experience, COMO Castello Del Nero offers the perfect mix of Tuscan charm and luxury.

Borgo Pignano – Volterra, Italy

Our next stop was Borgo Pignano, a romantic hilltop estate near Volterra. Set in the countryside, it offers stunning views, elegant accommodations for over 100 guests, and a variety of ceremony and reception spaces including a Romanesque chapel, terraced gardens, and frescoed interiors. This venue can accommodate up to 120 wedding guests staying on the property across all their villas, suites, and the main villa.

With its farm-to-table cuisine, eco-conscious focus, and peaceful atmosphere, Borgo Pignano is a dream destination for couples seeking natural beauty and timeless Italian charm.

Fontanelle Estate – Chianti, Tuscany

We ended day two at Fontanelle Estate in Tuscany’s Chianti region, featuring two luxurious hotels: the historic Hotel Le Fontanelle with elegant gardens and The Club House, an adults-only retreat with a pool and Michelin-starred dining. Hotel Le Fontanelle has 36 rooms and accommodates approximately. 75 guests. The Club House has 15 rooms, so together this estate could host the wedding for up to 90-100 guests total.

Both offer beautiful indoor and outdoor wedding spaces, plus unique experiences like wine tastings and cooking classes. The day wrapped up with a lovely dinner, drinks, and a live pianist.
